Tuesday Morning Hike - Mountains to Sea Trail US-25 to US-74A

THIS IS THE SAME HIKE AS THIS WEEK'S THURSDAY MORNING HIKE.

WEATHER POLICY: I do not cancel for weather conditions unless they pose a hazard such as icy roads or thunderstorms, so dress for the weather. You can find an excellent forecast the night before a hike at: weather.gov and enter 28801 in the zip code search feature. If the forecast does not suit you, change your RSVP status to not going.

Meetup in parking lot of Lowe's Foods next to Hendersonville Rd. Form shuttles and leave at 9:10 for beginning of hike at gravel parking on west side of parkway just south of junction of parkway and Charlotte Hwy (US-74A) no later than 9:10. We will hike on the Mountains to Sea trail, about 4.7 miles. Moderate to easy. We should be back to Hendersonville Rd before noon, car(s) at start of hike will need to be retrieved.

Dog policy: This hike is mostly on Blue Ridge Parkway property. From the Parkway website: "Dogs and other pets are allowed on the Parkway but must be on a leash (not to exceed six feet) or otherwise under your physical control."

One of the weirder Bill the Beduoin hikes...No sooner had we left the trailhead than we descended into a maelstrom of frozen mud, biting winds, dog shit, snotstreams and cell phone molestations. But it's conditions such as these that separates Bill the Bold from the average hike leader: he soon had us marching through the whirlwind with makeshift snowshoes made out of discarded milk cartons, and morale improved as blood began to flow to my extremities. There came later in the march a tourist on a mountain bike whining about all the stairs he was finding upon the wynd, and when I suggested the Parkway, he said, "But it seems so BIG." Just to jerk us around, Bill the Brazen took us offtrail and made us bushwhack the last 1000 meters under some electrical transformers, and I've been receiving NPR via a filling in one of my molars ever since. Otherwise, a fairly uneventful hike.
