A nice quick in town hike

We're meeting at the Executive Park at the base of Town Mountain Rd. If you are coming from East Asheville, go through the tunnel and it will be on your right side after the first light (Town Mountain Rd) if you are coming from downtown, go on College St. and go through the tunnel, then do a U turn and follow the previous directions.

We're going to hit a cool trail in North Asheville that not a lot of people know about, I don't even think that it has a name. It is fairly flat but has a few great views of the Beaverdam area. So come on out and stretch your legs!

Leashed dogs are welcome on this hike.

you are looking at 1-2 miles each way should be back by around 5 or so.

Thanks and we'll see you on the trail!

ps - I'll have bumper stickers with me, $5 each.

Nice trail along the Blue Ridge with winter view of mountains

To a newcomer it was confusing - I thought it was a walk in town - yes really - so I wore shorts and I had no idea that we would be walking in the woods. Approximate duration of walk, distance and difficulty I feel should be in every title of every walk. Many many thanks

Many, if not most, hikes are out of town, miles away, many miles long, and in the mountains, in contrast to the "quick in town hike" as Chris described. Another Meetup you might consider is WNC Easy Hikers & Walkers. The group occasionally takes in town walks if that is what you are looking for.

Maggie, most hikes I post do have the a lot more information on them. This one I had to guess at due to it being a privately owned trail. Hope you'll join us again on another hike!

Sorry that the hike didn't work out as planned. I'll try to find out more about why the trail was closed this week. Given the circumstances, I think it went well. I'm glad we had the alternate hike so close to the original as it would have been a pain to drive up to Craggy or back to the meetup location.

A nice moderate hike - and it's always more fun when so many people show up.

Sorry it didn't work out like planned. Would have been better for me with my bad knee. Hope everyone enjoyed the alternate hike. Hope to see you soon on another easy one.
