mt. leconte 14 mile loop

not a dog friendly hike, no pooches in the smokies. 14 mile loop will require a short shuttle or hitchhike. trails will include the at, boulevard trail and alum cave. always bring a headlamp on my hikes cause s**t happens. also bring food, water. We will keep a brisk pace. we will leave cracker barrel at 8:05

This was a great hike! Fantastic views and a great group of hikers. Lots of ice and some snow on the trail. Do not attempt without some sort of ice spikes for boots.

Hi Folks! I just joined this MeetUp and I think I figured out how to get myself on the wait list for this leconte hike. Should we plan on any stream crossings on this one (i.e. Teva's) or does the route have solid bridges?

i've been following the blog on weather and trail conditions atop leconte, as well as recent hike posts. the trails will probably be icy/snowy and can be dangerous on the ledges. i HIGHLY recommend micro spikes or chains or crampons (i.e. xtra traction) AND hiking poles. be prepared to turn around individually on your own accord, as i will. We will proceed as planned.

Since I'm in Maggie Valley I was hoping to meet the group at the parking lot at Newfound Gap. Will be driving Toyota Tundra w/camper shell. Could be helpful for short shuttle. Whats your eta?

This sounds incredibly fun, but I will be out of town. Would it be mean of me to wish for bad weather so you have to reschedule?
