Sure, you can meet us at White River. The rental place is Otto's Ski Shop in Sandy Oregon http://ottosskishop.com/
You will need to buy a parking pass for $6.

I am going to delay this for a week. I am not taking chances driving up the mountain with 12-18 inches coming down. :-) Fingers are crossing, hoping next week will be better with snow but not the drama.

If there is enough snow next week, should we return to White River? It may be better for a beginner's event.

      Minh,

Can we meet you at White River? We probably won't make it to Starbucks at 10. Is the rental place named Mountain Community place on Sandy Blvd?

Hey! KGW is forecasting heavy snow and strong wind. There may be blizzard like conditions up at Hood tomorrow. I am going to sit this one out. Stephanie, you can still borrow my snowshoes, if you'd like.

There are 4 options to get snowshoes.
    1) Get a REI membership for $20 for life and you can get free snowshoes tryout but we need to get going at 8:00AM sharp. The drawback is for non REI sponsored snowshoeing events in the future, you are out of luck.
    2) You can stop in Sandy, Oregon and there is a place that rents out snowshoes for $17.
    3) Buy snowshoes online for about $62.
    4) Go to Costco and see if they have snowshoes for $69. If snowshoeing isn't your thing, you might be able to return it.

Unfortunately REI has cancelled this event due to lack of snow :-( It is unlikely to be re-scheduled.

Yeah. My snowshoeing trip tomorrow is cancelled too. I'm thinking to go to Timberline lodge for snowshoeing (it has snow) or change this event to hiking. Minh will update us.

Just so everyone is aware its my first time so we would need to go a little earlier so I can rent snowshoes there, will that be alright with everyone since we will be carpooling??

We should be done by 1:00PM. With a 1.5 hour drive back to Portland, you are looking at 2:30PM.
