Apologies in advance for the member-wide email, but Elmo (11) found something that might be ideal for some of you and your loved ones.
See http://www.yourlocalgamestore.com/. It’s a one-off center for tabletop gaming. Rent the game gear for $5/hr (I think) or $20 a month gets you a membership. They play WarHammer, World of Warcraft, Dungeons & Dragons, dozens more including stuff for anybody turned off by the implicit aggression of those examples.
The best thing (for Aspie’s) is that here’s a built-in pretense for face-to-face interaction. No electronics. We were there Sunday and it was standing-room only, but on our other visits it was very quiet and a couple grownups were very patient explaining a game to us. Variety of ages, but heavily male. On Sunday I estimated the average IQ in the room at about 125 before I walked in. Hell, half of them should come to the meetups.
Their official lower-limit for age is 12, but Tuesday nite is Family Night.
