Can Kenji have visitors?  I think Jessica would want to go if he can.  Kenji, is there anything that you need that we could bring you?
Praying for a fast recovery!

Pierre,

What a good
idea  to field this quandry with your friends in Charlotte.  And how wonderful that you have found some good folk with whom to study the bible and worship.  Life will always be challenging in one way or another.  Some people do not understand what it means to follow the GOSPEL when that means they must change their own point of view. Suggest that the clergy read Acts 10, the telling of thew story of Peter, Cornelius and the Gentiles, and see how (Simon) Peter, a devout apostle, had visions which required that he alter his view of the world as he continued with his ministry.  These people you mention can learn a great deal from you and other aspires just as Peter did from the Gentiles.  God commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves.  It is a basic tenet of faith.

We are all still rocked by the news that Kenji had a (mild) stroke and is now in rehab.  Apparently his speech is affected but he is working in therapy to get back to his healthy self.  He's at Mecklenburg Health Care Center 2415 Sandy Porter Road room 213,[masked]-0430.

keep us updated.  Let us know how you are doing.  We miss you a great deal around these parts!

Blessings!

Susan

Subject: [aspergers-81] Appearance

Last night at church, someone asked me, for the severalth time, why I paint my
nails (which I don't; I'm always careful to say que las tiƱo) and have long
hair (which was messy, as it was several days since I combed out the loose
hairs). She stated flatly that men do not paint their nails. I'd like to say
that, being an aspie, I don't hold on to (me afierro a?) a culture, but I don't
know how to explain it in a way that makes sense to an NT.

A few weeks ago I visited the church in Asheville at the invitation of the
youth elder (who is aware that that's an oxymoron) (there's one pastor in four
churches in the area, and he was in Asheville). I noticed a man with long hair
and introduced myself. He turned out to be from San Salvador-Ilopango, like my
mother, and to know a fair bit of Hebrew, like me. But I'm sure that not
everyone with long hair knows Hebrew, not every aspie has long hair, and so
on.

She further stated that my appearance is why I haven't found my wife. I think
that any potential novia who is put off by my hennaed nails and hair is not the
right one for me, and unlike most men, I need help finding someone who matches
me well.

Then there's my friend (now in Durham) I've been reaching out to. The woman at
church doubted that I can present Christ to her looking as I do. I know she
likes to read the NT in Greek with me, and I'm pretty sure the color of my
nails doesn't in the least detract from the experience!

How do I explain this so that she can understand? Is it like telling a blind
man that he has to wear red? How do I tell an NT that I can't see lo broda,
since not seeing it, I don't know what it is, or if the word "broda"
accurately describes it? And how can I explain this face-to-face? None of them
has given me their email address.

Pierre
