July 13 Meetup

                                              July Meetup

                               Sunday July 13, 2014 ~ Noonish

                        Medical Astrology with James Hopson

Fee ~ None, Your attendance is all we ask.

This month our speaker will be James Hopson, Medical Astrologer, Nutritionist, Biofeedback, Kirlian Photography and so much more.  Some of you may remember James from his previous presentation May 2011.  Come and learn about the unique field of medical astrology and hear what James has been up to since then.  Check out his website:  http://www.inspiringhealth.net/

In the field of health and medicine there seems to be one very important fact that has been forgotten: That the body is a self-healing organism.  We all know this.  How do we know this?  Remember when you were a child and you fell and scrapped your knee.  And then over the next several days you watched as the body healed itself?

James’ philosophy is to approach health holistically, by looking at both the brain and the body. Seeing the big picture assists in clearly identifying your unique challenges, their causes and the best ways to address them.

“Inspiring Health is a product of many years of study and experience, beginning with my own illness and subsequent medical training at Emperor's College of Traditional Chinese Medicine more than ten years ago.  In that time what I have learned is that most health issues arise out of stress or trauma.  In fact, recent research shows that 90% of doctor’s visits are triggered by stress-related events.  These stressors can be generated internally, by poor digestion, heavy metals, physical pain, or even our own belief systems.  Stress may also be activated by external sources, such as unhealthy relationships, difficult work situations or unresolved family issues.  But regardless of its source, stress affects us both physically and mentally.”

Don’t forget the 2014 ISAR conference; the theme is “Stepping Into the Circle: Embracing the Spirit of Community,” September 25-28, 2014, in Phoenix.  http://www.isarastrology.com/2014-conference

BIG News:  I have found, or she found me, either way we have a trained Vedic Astrologer to speak at a future Meetup, tentatively November but to be determined.  In the meantime, if you are curious about or want to learn more about Vedic Astrology, check out Taara and her new Vedic Astrology Meetup group: http://www.meetup.com/Vedic-Astrology-Meetup/  Of course I’ve joined.

It certainly didn’t feel like it in Sunny Southern California, but July 3/4 marked the Earth’s farthest point from the Sun during its annual orbit.  How can that be you might wonder?  How can the hottest days in the Northern hemisphere be when the Earth is farthest from the Sun?  It’s all about the angle of the Sun’s rays.  The Earth is tilted on its axis and during the summer, the Northern hemisphere is tipped toward the Sun allowing for the Sun’s energy to make a more direct hit on us.

Mercury is direct again leaving Saturn, Neptune and Pluto retrograde, but not for long.  Just around the corner (July 16) Jupiter, which spends about 55 weeks in a sign, will leave nurturing protective Cancer and enter look-at-me Leo.  Next up will be Saturn at 16 Scorpio, changing from retrograde to direct on July 20.  It takes Saturn several weeks to slow down, stop and change direction so Saturn will be spending 7 weeks at 16 Scorpio.  Later July 25, Mars will finally (after more than 7 ½ months) bid adieu to “you really need to learn to share Libra” and enter His second home, Scorpio.  Mars is speeding up and will continue to pick up speed until January 2015 so don’t be surprised if some things start happening quicker than you expected.

There doesn’t seem to be a single dominant pattern right now, just a square here and a trine there as the planets continue to dance around the zodiac.  You may think there is a Mercury Venus conjunction coming up, but it will not happen, not this time.  Theirs is an intricate dance as one chases the other sometimes catching up and sometimes just coming up short.  This is one of those almost but not quite times.  Meanwhile, the Lunar Nodes continue their retrograde march through Libra/Aries helping to focus our attention on matters of balancing self with others.

As usual, we will start this Meetup with our talk around with the “Big 3” Ascendant, Sun and Moon signs, if you know them.  Don’t worry if you don’t as you will before the meetup is over.  We will follow the talk around with more about the Moon with Victoria and then our guest speaker, James Hopson.

If you would like to be a speaker or have ideas for future topics, please let Spencer or I know.  What we don’t know, we can all learn together.

So, all that said, here is our agenda for this meetup.

Spencer and I have talked about this and because of the ongoing expense of the fees for the meetup site and costs of copies and such, we are going to add a container for “love donations” to help defray some of the costs.  This is entirely voluntary.  There is no fee or charge for attending this meetup; this is just to help defray some of the costs.

This meetup will be at our usual location, Un Urban Café, 3301 Pico Blvd.  Great little coffee shop with delicious food and excellent drink selections.  Do support the Un Urban if you can by buying a drink and/or something to eat.

Because of the remodel at the Un Urban, we need to move our post-meeting discussions and class from the back room to the main/front area by 3pm so others can have the opportunity to use the backroom and stage.

Want to know what planetary day and hour you were born under?  After the meetup, about 3:30pm, I will be conducting a class/ mini-consultations going into more detail on whatever you might have questions about or want to look at.  I will also be answering any lingering questions from the meetup or which you may have.  A fee of $10 is requested for this class.

If you have any questions, would like to request a chart or just want to chat, e-mail me [masked] or ring me up,[masked]-4417.

We hope to see you all on July 13, in support of our group and the Un Urban Café.
