Sunday October 14, 2012 – noonish
Topic – Saturn in Scorpio
(The Art of Surrender)
Fee – None, your attendance is all we ask.
I’m late, I’m late, I’m late. As they say, good intentions often go awry. Hopefully you will all find this worth the wait.
Saturn is now in Scorpio not to return to Libra until September 5, 2039. That gives us a bit of time to prepare. Jupiter is now retrograde and will be for the remainder of 2012. Uranus and Neptune are both still retrograde giving us a total of 3 planets in reverse mode. The first Presidential debate is history and was, for most a bit of a surprise. Coming up this week is the VP debate October 11 and after our meetup, two more Presidential debates. I expect we will see a very different President Obama for the next debate. Maybe we should have a debate between the wives? The charts for all four debates have been posted on our meetup website and can be accessed by clicking on “More” and then “Files”.
The key feature for this meetup is the very balsamic Moon. The Moon is balsamic when it is 45 degrees or less behind the Sun in the zodiac. This Moon rising in the morning shortly before the Sun and is a lovely Cheshire cat grin crescent. If you look for it the morning of the meetup, look just before sunrise for the thinnest of crescents. Under ideal conditions, you should be able to just make it out as it is being washed out by the Sun’s rays. In terms of Lunar phases, this is sometimes called a waning semi-square. This is the time for purging, for releasing what no longer serves us. For the final harvest of what was sown at the previous New Moon. This is the time for preparation for the coming New Moon which will be at 5:02 am, Monday morning at 22 Libra 32.
The Meetup chart forms a splash or splay as the planets are distributed throughout the zodiac. It is an Eastern hemisphere chart with 8 of 10 planets in houses 10, 11, 12, 1, 2 and 3. This indicates a time for independent functioning. Time to suck it up and get it done. Finish it. The other key planetary aspect is the double applying square of Venus to Jupiter. Venus at 13 Virgo is moving forward while Jupiter, still at his stationing degree of 16 Gemini is moving retrograde so both are moving toward the degree of their coming square, 16 Virgo/Gemini 07 on Tuesday, October 16 at 4:34 pm. This has been a very active area of the zodiac this year as both the Mars and Venus retrogrades covered this area. Venus and Jupiter aren’t alone at this time as the Moon is moving to a conjunction with Mercury at 16 Scorpio forming a sextile to Venus and an inconjunct to Jupiter. It may be necessary to make some tough choices at this time.
Here is a “heads-up” for everyone. I recently posted a document in the “Files” section titled “Significant Transits and Other Astro Events” and in case you missed it be aware that Sunday October 28th looks to be a very, if not the most, astrologically energetic day of October. It starts with Mars opposition Jupiter then Venus and Mercury both change signs and the Moon moves into Taurus ending a void-of-course period of over 28 hours. If that isn’t enough, Mercury also squares Neptune. All of this happens within a five hour period that morning. Take the day off if you can.
Here is another “heads-up” for everyone. The next day, Monday October 29, shortly after the Full Moon at 12:49 pm, the Moon will trine Pluto and then go void-of-course (voc) for over 45 hours. This is an unusually long voc period. In brief, a void-of-course Moon time is the period after the Moon makes its last aspect to another planet until it enters the next sign. It can be anywhere from a minute or two up to two days. It is a time when it is best to avoid major decisions as you may find afterwards that you did not have all the information necessary; that something was missing. It is a time better suited to reflection and review.
Spencer and I have talked about this and because of the ongoing expense of the fees for the meetup site and costs of copies and such, we are going to add a container for “love donations” to help defray some of the costs. This is entirely voluntary. There is no fee or charge for attending this meetup; this is just to help defray some of the costs.
For the talk-around in addition to the usual “big 3,” Sun, Moon and ascendant signs we will be asking for your natal Saturn placement; what sign and house is Saturn in. Not to worry if you don’t know. If you have your natal chart, you are encouraged to bring it and someone can assist you in finding Saturn and its placement. For the meetup, we will be looking at Saturn’s sojourn through Scorpio for the next 2 ½ years or so. We will be doing a relay presentation covering the mutual reception of Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn and their mythology. We will also look briefly at the history of previous mutual receptions between them and Saturn’s previous transits through Scorpio. And we will also look at Saturn in Scorpio through the 12 houses so you may have some idea of what this transit might mean for you.
After the meetup, about 3:30pm, I will be conducting a class going into more details on Saturn in Scorpio. For those who attend, we will look at where this transit will be in your chart and what aspects Saturn will make to your natal planets. A fee of $10 is requested for this class.
This meetup will be at our usual location, Un Urban Café, 3301 Pico Blvd. Great little coffee shop with delicious food and excellent drink selections. Do support the Un Urban if you can by buying a drink and/or something to eat.
If you have any questions, would like to request a chart or just want to chat, e-mail me [masked] or ring me up,[masked]-4417.
