Yesterday's cloud situation did not declare itself until the last minute, hence the last minute cancellation. As is usually the case a few members took a risk and still showed up at the 9th st and Prospect Park West entrance and were rewarded with some very brief views of Saturn the few time it did break through the cloud cover.. Whenever the weather is questionable up to the last minute, you will usually find myself and/or some other representative of the Amateur Astronomer's Association of NYC at the 9th st and Prospect Park West entrance.. (unless the weather is absolutely horrible). In last night's case, the simultaneously scheduled Concert and fireworks went off smoothly and would not have terribly affected our plans had the weather cooperated. (Thanks for the heads up, Alex!).
Next meetup is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2013, starting 9 pm.
Also check out our organisation's website at aaa.org for many of our other numerous events around the city this summer.
