Please forward to any friend or colleague you think would enjoy an invitation!

A Star Party: Cocktails Under African Skies
OCTOBER 18th
6:30 – 9:00 pm

We invite you to explore the legendary sparkle of stars—and sip something sparkling as you do for the SPECIAL PRICE of $25.
Did you know stars make sounds? Want to hear what we think they sound like? Join us for this very special “Star Party” where Katrien Kolenberg of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory explains how stars’ oscillations can be translated into the rhythms you’ll hear played by a LIVE African drum circle.
This Mingle at the Museum at the African Art Museum will provide behind-the-scenes insights into the groundbreaking exhibition African Cosmos. Exhibit curator and museum deputy director Christine Mullen Kreamer, will be on hand to give guests a deeper understanding of the objects and art that have been collected from all over Africa.
Barefoot Wine & Bubbly will be pouring star-inspired signature sparkling cocktails throughout the evening, at no additional charge.
While you enjoy this starry, starry night of science, socializing, and art, try your hand at:
• Crafting an adinkra-inspired fabric
• Charting a constellation
• Creating some stellar origami
Sponsored by Barefoot Wine & Bubbly
The specialty cocktail and non-alcoholic beverages will be served at no additional charge, while supplies last. A cash bar offers a wine and beer throughout the evening.
Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Must be at least 21 with a valid photo ID to attend.
