Pan-STARRS Comet Observing

Mother nature has finally given us some clear skies! Tonight may be our only chance to see the Pan-STARRS Comet in Vancouver. The comet will be near the Western horizon for about 1 hour following sunset. It may not be visible to the naked eye, so binoculars or telescope will be needed.

Several RASC members will have their telescopes at the SW Marine Drive lookout, just South of UBC at 7pm tonight. Sunset is 7:22pm in Vancouver and we should have about 1 hour of observing time. Remember not to look through your telescope or binoculars until the sun has 100% set. Even a half second of sun exposure through a telescope or binoculars will cause permanent vision damage.
