Terrestrial/Celestial Nature Forays

  • May 8, 2010 · 2:00 PM

TERRESTRIAL / CELESTIAL is a unique event hosted by The Vancouver Mycological Society, The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada - Vancouver Centre, and by artist Diane Borsato.

On Saturday May 8th, amateur mycologists will host amateur astronomers for an afternoon mushroom foray, from 2PM-6PM in Maple Ridge, and astronomers will host mycologists at an evening star party at a dark sky site also located in Maple Ridge, from 8PM-11PM. The events are free and open to beginners, but space is limited to 15 registered guests from this Meetup group, due to the sensitivity of the nature preserve, and the limited capacity of the observing site. Only registered members will able to attend. Restaurant suggestions will be provided, for a quick dinner in the area during the time between the two parts of the program.

To register, if space is still available, we require the number of people in your party (limited to 4 per registration), and your e-mail address and phone number. Once your registration is received, an event organizer will contact you with details of the locations.

Before registering, please read the information below on the two forays, to be sure they are suitable for you and any guests you intend to bring!

I enjoyed tramping through the forest discovering a new world of Fungus, the "mushroomers" were a great a bunch of Fun Guys.
The night was ruled by the Astrogeeks, lots of great scopes and night time sights despite a high thin Cirrus layer.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
