At our meeting this Sunday, we will watch the movie 'Agora' about the life of the great Alexandrian philosopher and mathematician Hypatia. The story is set in the late 4th and early 5th centuries C.E. and involves the clash of fading pagan, emerging christian and struggling jewish cultures in what had been for centuries a center of learning and cultural pluralism in the ancient world.
