SPEAKER: MIKE REISS

SUBJECT: THE SIMPSONS, RELIGION & ME

Mike Reiss has been writing for The Simpsons for twenty-five years. In that time he’s seen the series both condemned by the National Council of Churches, but later praised by the Pope! 

Reiss will discuss how religion is handled on the “The Simpsons”, and why god is the only character on the show with five fingers.

    Also, and this has to be a FIRST in the Atheist movement: We actually had an ordained Catholic priest in the audience today! Turned out, he was a Simpsons fan and a good sport. He seemed to have a good time. Now if he would only re-consider that silly god business...

    This was an exceptionally wonderful Brunch. Our speaker, Mike Reiss, was so funny I was literally rolling in the aisle. Yes! Ask anybody. Joey Galker had to help me to my feet. Mike, you were terrific. I especially loved the line,"If you have to ask 'what's a goy?' then you are one.
