HUUmanist Forum - "Rebellion vs. Conformity" - Bruce Isaacson

"Rebellion vs. Conformity: What positions fits humanist values in a flawed world?"

Does the failure of omniscient design create a huumanist imperative?  How do we even talk, in a common language, about the problems of this world and our aspirations for a better one?

Working from Dostoevsky’s Grand Inquisitor and his treatise on Rebellion, Bruce Isaacson will prompt a discussion on the language of control v. the language of rebellion, the difficulty of telling one from another, and the artist’s moral imperative in our miraculous, yet deeply flawed, world.”

Bruce Isaacson earned master’s degrees at Dartmouth College and Brooklyn College, where his thesis was read by noted American poet Allen Ginsberg.  He is a writer and publisher of Zeitgeist Press, which is responsible for over 100 titles of poetry and prose, mostly from the 1980s SF Bay Area spoken word revival.

The Huumanist Forum is on Sunday March 2nd at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas, 3616 East Lake Mead Blvd (near Pecos) at 12 noon
