My new catch phrase. . . "It's just a fact!"

Raul, My suggestion is, as I said before, ask him to justify his claim that Judaism is the oldest religion. Hinduism is widely believed to be the oldest. But he'll probably respond in the same way as he did to your question..."It's just a fact!"
I, too, was curious about a 'black rabbi'...but I didn't want to mention it for fear of violating some silly racism rule. Was he born Jewish? Is he a recent convert? Was he a member of another religion before he became a Jew? If Judaism is not a religion, does he get all of the tax benefits that religions get? If so, why?
By the way, I cringed a bit when you starting mentioning books that atheists follow. I've been an atheist for a lot of years and that was the first time I ever heard we had specific books that we honor.

The Black Rabbi. . . was a Ninja.

That was fun for me (not so much for the Rabbi).
When the show was over, we were commenting on how most of the questions were directed to me. I told them: “I am not surprised because that always happens when you include an atheist in any panel. It’s one of the privileges of being a member of the most hated minority in America”.
The Rabbi quickly disagreed: “You are not”.
“Really?” – I asked. “Please tell me then, which is the most hated minority in America?”
    “Muslims and blacks” he replied.
“Well” I responded, “I got my data from Pew research. Where did you get yours?”
“From nowhere. It’s a fact!” he stated and quickly walked out of the studio.

Typical testosterone-driven pissing contest - competing about who is more hated! Ha, ha, ha.

So, it’s been fun hanging with you, guys but apparently I have one week to enjoy my atheism before I am “touched” by the Lord. It would be nice to have a good response for next Saturday.
    Any suggestions?

Well, it would have been a lively debate if he was a real Rabbi. He wouldn't have answered that Muslims & Blacks were the hated majority if he was raised Jewish. Just weird. Jews do not convert people, so I would ask him about his odd prediction in your case. Jews do not believe in Hell, so I'd ask him why does it matter to him that you don't believe in God, one week later.

That was hardly a Rabbi (what's his first and last name?)...his responses and personality were untraditional, in my opinion. He said he had no connection with me & I'm the real Jew, not a converted one.Oy vey...

Awesome! I only caught part of the show, but from what I saw you dominated! I can only wait to find out if you have found God by next week as the rabbi had proclaimed. Now, a black rabbi? Excuse my ignorance, but what is up with that?

Raul, I watched the show. That was an hour of my life I'll never get back again. I was surprised to hear the rabbi say that Judaism is not a religion. That's usually a Christian canard. Then he also claimed that Judaism was the oldest religion and all of the other religions come from it. Has he never heard of Hinduism? We will miss you at the future atheist meet ups since you will be a believer starting next week.

Saw the show. Considering the subject of a couple of the questions that came in from callers, I would have had difficulty keeping a straight face. I think you did too. So you're going to 'know God' by next week? It sounds like a 50's movie serial. The train is about to go off the tracks into a canyon and then '...to be continued' pops up. Can't wait to see your converson on next weeks show!

Always love hearing the religious ramble. Raul, 1 week of atheism left for you...the rabbi said he had a connection with you, not I. ;-)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
