"Religious Morality and Irreligious Morality - What is the Difference?"

August 3rd HUUmanist Forum at 12 noon - Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas

Lori Fazzino's talk "Religious Morality and Irreligious Morality - What is the Difference?" is about the conflict between believers and non-believers in claiming the right to define what is morality. Remember moral majority? Lori will discuss the impact of culture and moral norms in the codification of laws. She will explain how individuals come to construct their sense of morality, regardless of world views and how global citizens get their morality in a diverse information-mediated society? Lori Fazzino is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology at UNLV.

    As Lori predicted, she said some things that were unpopular with the group. That is, it was an excellent, thought-provoking presentation. The hope is, of course, that it actually provokes thought.

    Disappointed...presentation=too academic, much too lengthy + poor examples...totally non-interactive.

    Religious morality is fear based while irreligious morality is based on common sense and respect.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
