Introduction

If you don't buy into any bullshit religion either, we should be friends 'cause I like your style :)

What Brian Naldoza is saying about this Meetup Group

More than a year after first joining, I realize I've yet to review the group... In one word: "Diverse". Which is not meant to be critical - It's just the one true fact given that we are brought together by one commonality: our non-religiousness. And I think it's something to be appreciated because if this "meetup" is about meeting people, there's something for everyone, whether it be intellectual debate, activism, or just finding friends with whom to share a beer or explore the city, devoid of any nonsensical God talk. Of all places, I think "Sin City" should have a thriving secular community, and I'm proud to have a hand in attempting to achieve that with this group so that we can encourage more non-religious people in Vegas to "come out of the closet" and help prove that life without religion can be very fulfilling and enjoyable.

Brian, Another thought on the idea of having theists come to speak at the meeting. Perhaps have one or two theists and one or two atheists discussing a predetermined topic. Not necessarily a debate but a moderated discussion. Then the 'audience' could ask questions. I think this way it might not seem so adversarial. And it would be an opportunity for the theists to present their views to us in a (hopefully) controlled environment.

    Hi Brian,

After Saturday's AA, I had a conversation with a few other attendees about how we might make the opportunity to speak a little more balanced. We all agreed that we'd like to see some sort of gentle measure introduced to prevent the conversation from being dominated by a few people. We all liked the suggestion of one of the members that the die be tossed to you after each person finishes speaking, and you then toss it to the next speaker. What do you think?
