Happy Hour Meetups

Happy Hour Meetups

We have different kinds of meetups from time to time, but one of the most common is our Happy Hour Meetup.

What to expect
These types of meetups are very casual with no agenda or program... we simply meet to share a drink or meal and chat about any topic that seems to be of may or may not find much talk of religion but it is a topic that comes up frequently... except in this situation you are not being asked what church you attend ;) You can typically expect about 4-10 people from all different backgrounds and age groups... you will find the group very approachable and "normal" (whatever that is) and should feel very much at home... these are fun folks. Again it is completely casual so there is no specific end time, people eat when they feel like it, some don't eat at all, and some come late or just stop by for a hello.

Before the Happy Hour...
We ask that everyone RSVP for the event so we can all have an idea of who is coming and how big of a table to reserve... it helps knowing what faces to look for. However, it is not necessary that you RSVP and we would not want you to hesitate in coming just because you forgot to RSVP, but it is very helpful if you can. You can RSVP by clicking on the Event Name on our Home Page or on our Calendar Page... once the event screen comes up you will find the RSVP options to the right of the screen.

Upon arriving simply tell the Host(ess) that you are here with the "455 meetup group". If you choose to sit in the bar or there is no Host then we suggest that you check-in with the bartenders and ask them if anyone from the "455 meetup group" has arrived yet. If you end up being the first to arrive and no one has reserved a table or checked-in then we ask that you check-in for the group by simply giving the "455 Meetup Group" name to the host/bartender.

(For those new to the group, the #455 is a number that was automatically assigned to our group when it started back in 2005 and it just happens to be the easiest way to refer to the group).

If you would just rather have a look around you can certainly do this and it should be pretty easy to find us. You can look for two things that should identify the table... one is a table-top sign that says "455" (if possible it would be great to print a sign for yourself in case you are the first to arrive) or you can look for a "Blooming Bottle"... "What is a blooming bottle?" you ask. It is simply a bottle with a napkin scrunched up and poked in the top of the bottle and then set in the middle of the table... of course if you choose this method of identification you might have to continually guard the bottle from the wait staff who seem to love to sneak off with your Blooming Bottle. Whether you are first or last please help us make the group approachable and easy to find by making sure the table is idenitified in one of the ways described above.
