I scheduled this meetup because it is impossible to play some of the longer playing (and more strategically satisfying) games on Friday nights.

After this event fills up, I will schedule a second meetup for the same day and time for people who want to attend but want to play something lighter.

A Game of Thrones board game - "allows the players to take control of the great Houses of Westeros and embark on an epic struggle to claim the Iron Throne. Immerse yourself in a game of clever planning, careful allocation of power, and delicate diplomacy, all in the exciting flavor of A Song of Ice and Fire."

I expect the game to run 4+ hours.

I very much enjoyed this game. Brian (House Stark) won it on the 8th turn by flying under the radar and then betraying both houses Baratheon and Greyjoy simultaneously. Very un-Ned Stark like. :)

Gabriel told me: "This was great. I would do this again." This ranks as a parenting triumph!

It was great to meet Gabriel. Board games can be a great way to build self-esteem for certain boys.

Unfortunately, I already have an event this day.

Will, it's my son who wants to play this game. He's 15, atheist (so far), and a pretty serious gamer and has read every Song of Ice and Fire book. I would happily be in the alternate group playing, you know, word or trivia or social guessing games.

Jaime, that is fine, I look forward to meeting him.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
