Halloween Game Night

  • Oct 31, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

It's Halloween! Feel free to wear a costume to Game Night. Costumes are not required, of course.

If you have a spooky or Halloween-themed game, we can play that.

Feel free to bring snacks and/or beverages to share. We can order pizza if people want dinner.

I will send my address to anyone who RSVPs "Yes".

Jeff, Gabe and I played Splendor. Splendor is set in the Italian renaissance and each of us is a jeweler. Players score points for collecting sets of gems and visitations by nobles. Gabe won the game.
Jeff liked the game and said that he would consider buying it. I like the game too. The art work is really good and the heavy chips feel good in your hand. The strategy is not so complex that it causes analysis paralysis.

David, Brian S and I played "Alhambra" a tile placement game set in Moorish Spain. Players build their Alhambra (fortress) and score points for having the greatest number of each type of building. Players also score points for each section of wall surrounding their Alhambra.

Brian S said that he liked "Betrayal at House on the Hill." A priest (Jeff), a young woman (Brian), a burly man (Gabe) and a little girl (me) encountered many horrors while exploring a haunted mansion. The final horror was when the Priest (Jeff) unveiled his nefarious plan and shrunk all the participants to the size of mice. Echoing down he corridor we heard "Meow". Brian, who was on the same floor of the house as the cat, was eaten immediately. Meanwhile, I was able to find a model airplane on the upper floor and start the engine. When the cat bounded up the stairs to investigate, the Gabe slipped past him and nearly joined me at the airplane. The cat caught Gabe and Gabe failed his attempt to escape its sharp claws. I became airborne in the plane and made a last desperate attempt to snag Gabe as I flew by. I missed and Gabe was promptly swallowed thus ending the game.

Count me as a May be - I will update as time marches on. ALSO, Virginia, bring whatever games you like, as there will always be someone wanting to play a Milton Bradley style game or just plain old cards. We have played CLUE in the past, as well as, Hearts, Gin Rummy, Pitch,War and other card games. David owns FLUX, a great goofy card game - So come along and just have fun. There are at least 2 tables of people playing different things. David is a great and welcoming host.

Hey Brian, I uploaded an Inventory list of most of the games I own. If you would like to run a game, you could choose one from the list and I will bring it.
Rule books are almost always available online. Tutorials and playthroughs can be found on Youtube.
When I am going to run a game I haven't played before, I read through the rules and watch a playthrough.
