The winter solstice season is the time people of all belief stripes have always liked to revel in friendships and community, to reflect on the past year and to dream on things to come. We're certainly not exceptions in this regard and we all look forward to this particular gathering of the clan. Past iterations have turned out 30+ crowds so, if nothing else, the call of the herd should bring you in. Hard to believe we began barely six years ago with 10 people (two under the age of 3) and now we're more than 400 between the two sites.
The early announcement gives time for people to save the date and mark calendars and the early scheduling will hopefully avoid conflicts with office parties. (It's called "no excuses.") Newbies will appreciate the opportunity to be welcomed and to meet a bunch of the regulars. On-line only participants and observers can put smiling faces to the names they've seen and engaged with. And the "irregulars" will want to come see all the great new people we've attracted. This one's always fun.
Don't worry about the posted start time. It's for the initial bar gathering. We won't sit down to eat till 7, so just get there when you can. It's order-off-the-menu, as before. We'll probably lift a glass to Hitch's memory, his passing being just a year ago; I'll instruct the barkeep to have an ample supply of Johnny Walker Black.
Lots of free parking is just across North Broadway in a municipal lot---no charge after 5.
Can't wait to see all of you.
