Casual, open discussion about life, the universe and everything (minus the Douglas Adams cliché.) Make friends that appreciate the architecture of old churches more than what goes on inside. Momo is a favorite pub of mine with a beautiful back patio. (This time it will be open and that there will be sunshine.) I tried to pick a reasonable date for next months meetup. according to Wikipedia, August 25th is an auspicious day in history. In 1609, Galileo Galilei demonstrated his first telescope to Venetian lawmakers. In 1814, Washington, D.C. was burned and the White House was destroyed by British forces during the War of 1812. In 1835, The New York Sun perpetrated the Great Moon Hoax. In 1900, Friedrich Nietzsche died. In 1916, the United States National Park Service was created (thanks Congress!). In 1967, George Lincoln Rockwell, American Nazi Party leader, died. In 1981, Voyager 2 spacecraft made its closest approach to Saturn then in 1989 made its closest approach to Neptune. In 1984, Truman Capote died. And of course, on August 25th the Roman Catholic Saints Genesius of Arles, Saint Louis IX of France, and Saint Joseph Calasanz are all observed. Perfect. Hope to see you all there. Nick Please RSVP either if you can or cannot make it.
