Hike the Gorge - Elowah Falls

This hike makes for a wonderful afternoon in the Gorge. You have the option of taking the shorter hike to Elowah Falls (below) or taking the longer hike that features both Elowah and Upper McCord Creek Falls. Either way, it's a worthwhile trip.

To get to the trail head, you have two options:

1) Meet me at the Kennedy School McMenamin's in the parking lot at 11 am and follow me there. (If you like, I have room for three more people in my car. Email to reserve a place.)

2) Take US 84 east to Exit 35. When you exit and come to the stop sign, turn EAST on the old two-lane Columbia River Highway. You'll got about two miles before you encounter the trail head at Yeon State Park. It's a small parking lot there, so you won't have any trouble finding us there.

Be sure to bring water. Also, the second portion of the hike can be a bit steep, but the trail itself is in good shape and the effort is worth it.

Afterwards, survivors will meet at the Kennedy School for libations. Rally at the Boiler Room Bar for the first round.

Just posted some photos from my dad (Chuck Sterling)... sorry I was unable to make the hike too. Looks like you all had a great time!

This was the perfect pick for a hike. Not to strenuous and great views. I wish more people could have made it.
