This one's for the birds - Vaux swallows at Chapman School

If you haven't seen this phenomenon yet, you've missed a remarkable example of the Noodly One's wondrous works. Each year, thousands of swifts pause in Portland on their southern migration to take up residence in the Chapman School chimney. You will be amazed at how they gather their numbers and swirl into the chimney as if they were being swallowed by a drain.

Hundreds of people gather nightly, most making a picnic of it. So feel free to bring along a picnic basket of your own and, since this is a family friendly venue, any kids.

Be aware that alcoholic libations are illegal on school grounds. However, we will pick an after-event rendezvous where we can toast SFM's mighty works.
