This is a re-schedule of the workshop that was previously cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. Hope we can get a good size group to go down and participate!

I'm just rocking a really bad headache and my left side is sore in spots, but all in all I'm still upright so I'm okay! ;) Thanks everyone for your concern.

You were very much missed at a really good workshop, but we were all relieved to hear you are ok!
Sorry I missed the workshop, I really wanted to go.

Thanks to everyone for participating and making this a great event! I learned a lot and I think there was much we can apply to the coalition and our group.
Can anybody give me a ride down from Vernon? I won't need a ride back. Laura and I are going to Baltimore starting that day, and if I can get a ride down she'll drive down to Hamden to meet me when the workshop's over and we can just head south from there.

Okay,you're Dennis! ;)
Hi there! If folks can consider bring a snack or dessert item with them to the workshop to share with everyone, that would be much appreciated. Looking forward to the workshop!

If folks can please RSVP by noon on Thursday, 2/7/2013, that would be a great help. We need to provide a head count to Mr. Edwords so he can prepare the appropriate number of workshop materials for us. Thanks!

"How to Get Media Attention and Promote Your Group"
In this intensive training workshop, activists will be taught the ins and outs of the following:
Writing effective letters to the editorWriting effective press releases Holding press conferences and carrying out publicity stuntsPreparing talking points for media appearancesHandling yourself on radio, TV, and with print reporters
0 · January 22, 2013
Also covered will be powerful ways to use online social media. For many volunteer groups this has the advantage of no cost and less formality. And many activists are already involved in social media and simply need to focus their efforts more organizationally. Included in this topic area are ideas on the following:
Developing an improved Web presenceSpreading your message through FacebookMaking effective use of blogs and online forumsProducing viral videos
The secret behind all of this is "message clarification" in advance of media campaigns. It's the core of this no-nonsense, succeed-every-time seminar that has been given to groups all over the country as UnitedCoR builds and promotes local coalitions from coast to coast. Practical handouts will be provided, but come prepared to take notes.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
