Should Humanists Be Vegetarians? - HAH meeting

At this month's Hartford Area Humanist Meeting, the guest speaker will be CVA president Dan Xenatro, who has been invited to address the question of whether Humanists should be vegetarians. Following the usual brief business meeting mr dan will speak for about 15 minutes on the topic, followed by what is almost sure to be a lively discussion. Many of you consider this to be a ridiculous premise, which is all the more reason you should attend.

If you're a member of Hartford Area Humanists and you wish to attend, *please sign up on their Meetup here*:

If you're not a member of HAH and don't wish to join that group just to attend this event, sign up here and I will add you as my guest on the HAH page.  Please *don't sign up on both Meetups* as that will just make things complicated.

Dan gave a well prepared talk and engaged well with those who saw things differently than he did.

I'm going too and signed up with HAH. I was a vegan/veggie but now slipped - looking forward to the meeting.

I'm a longtime almost-vegan atheist, so look forward to meeting with you in a vegan friendly dining establishment, this should be most enjoyable, thanks for keeping me on your list!

EVERYONE (not just humanists) should be VEGAN!! For the sake of our health, the environment, a future on this planet, respect for all life .. It is the most sane, logical, reasonable, realistic, clear choice & isn't that what Humanism is all about? The only "ridiculous premise" is ignoring the truth and choosing to cling to antiquated self-serving practices perpetuated by those who profit from it .. lead by example, take responsibility & evolve - Isn't the humanist party all about not being manipulated by misinformation, fear & ignorance?

I agree, but it's a hard enough sell trying to convince them just to give up meat!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
