Dr. Michael Shermer, the founding publisher of Skeptic magazine, and Dr. Sahotra Sarkar and Dr. Kenneth R. Diller, biologists at the University of Texas at Austin, will debate Dr. Hugh Ross and Dr. Fuz Rana of Reasons to Believe. The event is also sponsored by the University of Texas Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Atheist Longhorns, Hill House Austin, and the Hill Country Institute for Contemporary Christianity.

Purchase tickets through CFI here: http://ga1.org/center...
or through Reason to Believe here: http://wasdarwinwrong... (I only did this at first because I didn't know there was another option :p)
(I also just bought a ticket through CFI to the lunch at noon, so if others of you are going, I'll be there too.)

I bought a general admission ticket, so go with that option if you want to sit as a group. Please purchase your tickets in advance.

Parking information is available here: http://www.utrecsport...

Let's just meet up on the northeast corner of Speedway and 21st outside of the gym. Let's try to gather between 6:30 and 6:45 so we'll have plenty of time to go in and find seats. I'll be wearing a green dress. My cell phone number is [masked] if you need to get in touch.

Hope to see you there! -Jacquie

I wish I could go! Michael Shermer is one of my skeptic heroes. Unfortunately I have to work Tuesday night. I hope everyone will post comments, giving some of the highlights of the evening. I have to live vivariously.

I bought my ticket through the Center for Inquiry so will attend with them. I'm glad Austin Atheists has a group attending as well. -Jo

Dr. Michael Shermer handled his side of the debate well. He was very confident about his stance, and included a bit of humor in his presentation. I really enjoyed it.
    •  I thought there was no contest between Ross and Schermer. (Schermer was great.) On the other hand I don't believe any minds were changed by the experience. Certainly worth attending. One of the panelists was a professor of mine when I was in school at UT. That was interesting, especially since he was not on "my" side.

Well, I has a great time at the debate, but I was unable to find anyone else from the meetup group! I'll have to meet everyone at another time, I guess.
