RE: [atheists-8] Meetup next week

Chris,

FYI, the CFI does NOT represent itself as an atheist group.  It's a deliberate (albeit political) choice to make itself more mainstream and welcomes agnostics, wiccans, any non-theist, any sceptic.  The fact that it's largely composed of atheists notwithstanding, they will disclaim your description of the organization.

Subject: [atheists-8] Meetup next week

Hi, everyone. First, I wanted to make an overdue apology for missing the Meetup last month. I'm in the midst of finding a new job, had an interview that day, and basically spaced on the meeting. I *will* definitely be there this time, table-top sign in tow, so I hope I'll get the chance to make it up to those of you who came last month by buying you a drink.

On a related note, I just wanted to throw out ahead of time that I would like to discuss the topic of assistant organizers at the next meeting or even the prospect of turning over Organizer duties to someone strongly inclined. I've been pretty content keeping things loosely organized, but I'm open to hearing what others think.

Finally, I wanted to make sure everyone knows about the following highly organized atheist groups in town. Both have a number of events they hold throughout the month and I highly recommend them both.

Atheist Community of Austin
http://www.atheist-community.org/

Center for Inquiry
http://www.centerforinquiry.net/

I hope everyone has a good weekend and I hope to see you Tuesday.

Chris
