Upcoming events

Just a couple of upcoming event notices I wanted to pass along from members.

If your members are interested, ACA has a public lecture at
Austin History Center Sunday starring Kathleen Johnson (VP and
Military Director for American Atheists): 12:15 Sunday.

ACA is also sponsoring a Pre-Lecture Brunch at Hickory St Bar
and Grille at around 10:30 am Sunday -- open to anyone. They
have a pretty good brunch buffet for about $13, plus cheap
Bloody Marys.

ACA is hosting a Godless Pub Crawl March 20, and they're taking
orders now for the commemorative t-shirts.

See the ACA website, and feel free to cross-post to your group
and/or tell your attendees if you want.

I wanted to let you know about Camp Quest TX (the reason I
joined the group!). The camp is going to be pretty awesome from
what we are planning and we need to get someone in Austin who
would like to start getting information out in the
atheist/freethinker/humanist community there. It certainly
doesn't have to be you in particular, unless you are able and
willing, but we really want someone local coordinating events
and communication. We have a big Dallas group, one person in
San Antonio and are working with several people in Houston as
well as some smaller cities across the state to get information
about the camp spread. I'm contacting the other organizers of
the Austin atheist groups as well. Essentially, Camp Quest is
going to provide the summer camp experience for 8-18 year olds,
promoting critical thinking and reason, logical thinking, and a
dogma-free fun time! Please take a look at the website and feel
free to email me with any questions. I'm really excited about
getting it going strong.

I am also ready to organize an event at E-Rock for those who
would like to get their kids some awesome outdoor experience
(climbing and rappelling on the rock as well as hiking around E-
Rock) for only the entrance fee into the park ($6/person 13 or
older). I am coordinating with a climbing friend who will be
providing all of the equipment, so the only thing people would
need to bring is a lunch. The drive is about 1 hour from
downtown Austin and we can be ready as early as people want to
show up (probably 8AM) and stay all day, weather pending.
