RE: [organic-99] Organic gardening

Hi fellow gardeners. I moved to Atlanta from Sacramento, CA about 3 months ago and have not learned about the climate and what grows well here. In California I always had a lovely garden filled with beautiful roses and other flowering plants and shrubs. I also started growing vegetables about 4 years ago and was hooked.

So…I guess I want to learn everything I can about growing organic, particularly in this climate. I would love to tour some great gardens (possibly yours?) as a group and discuss various methods of organic pest control, soil, and everything else organic. I never thought of growing mushrooms. You guys inspire me.

I look forward to meeting all of you and watching our gardens grow.

Hello everyone.  My interests are edible gardens. I want a garden that is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing.  I am trying to make the most of my garden space.  I've planted blueberries instead of boxwoods, kiwi and passion fruit vines, strawberries, and different types of fruit and nut trees.  I compost with worms (vermicomposting) and I have 4 rabbits which also provide me a nice supply of fertilizer.  I grow shiitake, maitake, about 10 different types of garlic and also potatoes in containers.  ;-)

I'd love to hear what everyone else is doing and their gardening goals and any neat ideas.

Sandra
