Just to throw some ideas:
If we keep in the tools/frameworks avenue, I would like to know more
about sbt and/or ScalaCheck/ScalaTest­/Specs.
One hot topic: domain specific languages. External ones with parser
combinators and embedded ones just using the language.
(Probably embedded DSLs are simpler, maybe we can pick one domain and
try together to create a lang for that in some kind of DSL workshop)
And I always enjoy higher order/ functional tricks.

I don't have much deep knowledge but I can volunteer to present some
of those topics

On a side note, if the Holiday Inn is the same were the AJUG meets, is
not really downtown but I-285 exit 30 (but is not a bad location,
specially after the rush hour is over)
