Building a WordPress Site from Scratch ($5)

At this meetup, we will be building a WP site from scratch and go live with it.

This way, all WordPress beginners can watch and see how a site is born and do the same at home.

We will also cover basic plugins and widgets as well as the WordPress dashboard.

We will build a site using a free theme (responsive) and pick a premium theme (templatic or elegant).

$5 payable at the door.

Hope to see you then!

Cheers, Tony.

Are you going to show how to customize things? Like headers, background colors, add social icons, etc.

Hey Tony I'm a newbie. Is a word press the same as a blog website? Can you direct people to amazon affiliate site to sell items? Also, do you own the wordpress site or does the host company own it? I'm very new and trying to learn ;-) I'll pay cash.

Wordpress is just the tool you use to create the type of site you want to produce. Wordpress is used more often to create Blog Sites. Regarding the ownership of the site, you will own the site if you go to www.godaddy.com or www.register.com and purchase the web name yourself. The hosting company only provides the portal for you to give your website, once created, to users on the internet.

OMG! Where have you been all this time!!! Thanks so much. I basically want to create a blog that works in conjunction with my youtube channel and I want my site to have a shopping cart which will somehow be an affiliate to amazon so people can purchase products. Trying to learn it all is just a little frazzling. But, I am looking forward to learning! Thanks so much again for the info ;-)

You should still attend. By the time the meeting is over, you will be well informed and at least know what Word Press is and where to start for your own projects.
