McGinnis Ferry to Medlock Bridge (because I like M&M's)

Let's paddle from McGinnis Ferry, not one of our usual put-ins, to Medlock Bridge, not one of our usual take-outs. This is an easy 8-mile trip suitable for paddlers of all levels. We are a social group but you must paddle while talking. We're not racing but do want to get some exercise.

The weather is supposed to be warm but smart paddlers will bring warm clothing just in case the weather report is not entirely accurate.

If you don't have a boat please see and RSVP the corresponding "boat valet" trip.

We'll meet at 10:00 AM at McGinnis Ferry to drop boats then drivers only will shuttle cars to Medlock Bridge. Medlock Bridge is a CRNRA park so be sure to bring your CRNRA parking pass or $3.00 for parking. Shuttlers should be back to McGinnis by 10:45.

We often stop for beer and snacks after paddling. All are welcome to join. Please bring dry clothes if you think you'll need them.

If you have questions or need more information please contact Glen Smith,[masked], [masked]. If I don't have your email address and phone number please get them to me so that I can contact you if there are any late changes.

Wondering if you have done this before and if you have an idea about what time you would be back up at McGinnis Ferry after the paddle?

    March 9, 2013

    • Glen S.

Cathy - we'll finish at Medlock Bridge where most of use will have our cars parked. We should be there sometime between 2:00-3:00 depending on whether anyone decides to swim and how long we stop.

Just me, but wouldn't it be better to meetup at the take out? Less moving people and cars around. I don't know how parking is at the locations though.

    March 8, 2013

    • Suzi

It can be done either way, but if we meet at the takeout, we have to drive all of the boats and gear (and people) to the put-in somehow. Unless we have a van and a trailer (we don't), it doesn't really work.

Well my thinking was meet up at take out, consolidate into as few vehicles as possible. Because I can probably carry about 7-8 boats. Then that way we only have to take the people that did the first shuttle back, which will use even less vehicles. Less vehicles doing 2 trips instead of more doing 3 trips.

Robert, this is a VERY calm stretch of water--no skirts needed!

Also remember the time change this weekend.

    3 · March 8, 2013

  • Suzi

    Hi folks,

Just a reminder--please be sure to update your RSVP if you are unsure or if plans change. YES does not mean, "Hold a spot for me, and I will try to be there." Yes means, "I have a boat and equipment; unless there is an emergency, I am sure that I will attend."

Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but please--be fair to others who might want to go, and to the organizer who will be waiting for you at McGinnis Ferry on Sunday.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
