American Canoe Association Whitewater Kayak Instructor Certification Workshop

American Canoe Association Whitewater Kayak Instructor Certification Workshop and Update

This course will be over two weekends
April 26th-28th (Instruction)
May 3rd-5th (Test)

This course is intended for those who are seeking certification as whitewater kayak instructors, as well as those who are in need of a certification update as required by the ACA. The full course is a 40 hour course that will be conducted over 2 separate weekends. The update will only be the first weekend of the course (4/26-28/2013).

During the course, many aspects of being a kayak instructor will be covered from managing risk on the water, to teaching and learning styles. This course will be a great opportunity for individuals to learn concepts in instruction, but also to share their experience and knowledge with other candidates. Parts of the course will include classroom setting, but the majority of the course is spent on the water. Candidates interested in the course should be able to fill the following requirements:

· Candidates should be able to confidently paddle and combat roll in class III whitewater

· Be at least 18 years of age

· Become a member of the American Canoe Association and maintain membership

· Be able to manage self and others on up to, and including class III whitewater

A full list of requirements for instructor candidates can be found at the following website:
