Cedar Creek Paddle (5 Miles)

Explore beautiful Cedar Creek near Cave Spring with CRBI supporters, Cedar Creek Park. This 5-mile paddle from Lyons Bridge Road to US 411 will introduce you to this intimate little creek and cold water springs so common to this area.

This is a guided paddle trip that is free to CRBI members (There is a $10.00 per boat shuttle fee that is payable to Big Cedar Creek Park). Canoe and kayak rentals are available. Information on specific meeting times and locations will be sent to all registered participants. To register to participate and reserve your rental boats, please fill out the CRBI online registration form.

*Notes from Mike:  I would appreciate your support of my annual fundraising efforts for CRBI if you plan to go on this trip.   If you are not a member and want to go on this trip please join CRBI by donating $35 or more via my FirstGiving fundraising page which entitles you to a one year membership and participation in any of their scheduled trips for free.

I will also match your donation in kind if you are raising money for Paddle Georgia up to the first $100 of total donations from PG fundraisers. Just let me know when donating and I will contribute the same amount to your PG fundraising site.

Donations of any amount are appreciated and donations of $5 or more receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win a new canoe courtesy of Blue Sky Outfitter in Rome. $20 donations receive 5 tickets, $40 receive 10 tickets, $60 receive 15 tickets and $80 and above receive 20 tickets.

This will be the last posting this year which will include my annual fundraising campaign for CRBI.  A heartfelt thank you to those who have supported me in this effort!  There is still plenty of time to donate!

What to expect: All CRBI trips are great for beginners and you will encounter nothing over CLASS 1 river conditions on this trip.  Cedar Creek is a bit more intimate than some of the other rivers that CRBI does trips on.  There is some faster moving water in a few places but this adds a little fun and nothing you will encounter is over a class 1.  James and Debbie at Big Cedar Creek RV Park are great folks and there is an awesome store on site with Kayaks, Canoes, and paddling accessories.

Please RSVP here to let other AAP member know you are going but you MUST register on the CRBI site to attend and secure any rental boats.  If you have joined CRBI via my fundraising site just note that you are a member when registering for the trip on the CRBI page.  Full details will be sent to all registered participants and those details trump any conflicting info that may appear here.  Please note that Shuttle fees are $10 per boat for those with their own boats. There is no charge for those renting boats. Shuttle fees are included in the price of the rental boats..

If you do not receive your information email by about 24 hours prior to the trip or if you have any questions about the paddle please contact Alan Crawford at seven zero six,two three seven, zero nine one seven.

Super paddle, even though I rolled, for the first time ever, and was ever so graceful, NOT, floundering out of the rocks in the current. Had to happen sooner or later. And what better than with super folk to help me out. Posted some pictures on Facebook. See the Coosa River Basin Initiative page. Thanks to James and Debbie -- the best hosts. Hope to see you again soon.

A great day on Big Cedar Creek! Rain held off, a little overcast, perfect for paddling. James and Debbie were great hosts as always. Awesome group of folks today as well.

I finally found some waterproof pants. I know I sound like a complete ditz, but a city tree destroyed my house a year or so ago--everything I owned was moved out. I'm still trying to sort stuff out now I'm sort of home -- and figure out what disappeared forever and ever (which is a lot!).

I have not heard anything about cancellation due to weather. CRBI generally paddles rain or shine with the obvious exception of thunderstorms.

    Is trip still a go?

Just got the logistics details for this trip so made a few adjustments to the posting. 1. Try to get there closer to 9:30 than 10:00 so shuttle can be loaded with boats and be ready to roll by 10. 2. There is a $10.00 shuttle fee per boat which you pay to the outfitter.
