Each time the Etowah floods it becomes a new river so let;s go see what it looks like.
This will be a 9 mile paddle on a Class 1 river from Hwy 9 to Kelly Bridge but there may be deadfalls to get over, around or under. The river should be almost back to a normal spring time level.
We will be leaving from the Chick-fil-A at 9:00am so those who want to eat breakfast should be earlier. Chick-fil-A is just past Outside World and in front of Walmart
This is a gentle class I section where I teach river kayaking lessons and the best section for learning how to paddle moving water. The scenery is beautiful in this Dawson Forest section with bluffs and trees. You will see only the top of one building and one house.
This is a good trip for those considering paddling with only one place that you will get splashed. Spray skirts are nice but not mandatory If you don't have a spray skirt then we will get you through the ledge without getting too wet (maybe).
The trip will start at the Scenic Etowah River Park on Hwy 9 near Dawsonville and end at Kelly Bridge.
There is a $3.00 "per person" fee required at the take-out so we'll park as many vehicles as possible there. The fee is per person, not boat or car so please have 3 - $1.00 bills.
There is a port-o-let at the put-in and take-out.
Bring a lunch and plenty to drink
