KAYAK BOWMAN ISLAND TO ABBOTTS BRIDGE…..#4 WITH DINNER AFTER

THIS EVENT IS CO-LISTED WITH AAP AND SOA WITH A MAXIMUM OF 24 PEOPLE COMBINED.  PLEASE ONLY SIGN UP ON ONE MEET-UP SITE.  This is not a beginner paddle.

This will be the forth of a series of four kayak trips being held on Sundays in June and August (I will be OOT a good bit of July). We will cover the 44 miles of the Chattahoochee River in reverse order with the furthest south being first and the furthest north being last because it is the hardest.

Spend the day kayaking with Barbara and Roxanne 13 miles down stream along the hooch. We will meet at Buford Dam, Lower Park at 9:00 am and paddle to the Abbott’s Bridge Unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. The event should last approximately 8 hours. This section is the beginning of the 44 total miles of paddling that is available with convenient ramps and take-outs on the way to Vinings near Atlanta. The river bottom is visible for most of the paddle and sightings of trout and other fish are common. Turtles, heron, and possibly Eagles can be sighted along the way.

We'll gather at the Park at the base of Buford Dam at 9:00 am and drop our boats and gear. Boats unloaded and ready to shuttle by 9:00am. All possible vehicles will then be shuttled down to Abbott's Bridge take-out and we'll ride back up to the Dam and begin our ride! The idea is to be on the water by 10:30am for the 13 mile ride to Abbott's Bridge. This is a HARD paddle. Experienced paddlers only. There is one Class II section called Rescue Rock...yes I have rescued people previously.

This is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat), paddle and PFD. Kayaks and Canoes are welcome. Rubber Rafts, Tubes and any other soft floats are not suitable for this trip, please. PFD's must be worn from the Dam put-in to the Highway 20 bridge by requirement of the GA DNR. From that point on, PFD's must be present in your boat.
We will stop at Settle's Bridge for lunch about 4 1/2 miles into the paddle. From there we’ll paddle the rest of the way to Abbott's Bridge, 8 miles further down the river, take out on the left.
PLEASE RSVP YES ONLY. DO NOT RSVP NO UNLESS YOU CHANGE FROM A YES TO A NO.
I need you cell phone number as well so you can either email that to me privately or shoot me an email through the meet-up site.

So sorry but I have to pull out of this trip as well. Coming off an injury and am afraid of the distance. (Definitely, I appreciate the forewarning.) Would love to another time. Have fun!

Can you make room for 1 more?
Maybe it would be helpful to have someone with emergency medical experience

Have no fear..people will cancel...guaranteed....I can even tell you who they will be. I deleted one gal that kept registering with a +1 and she cancels the afternoon the day before all three so I deleted her from #4.
