Considering the interest in stretching the National Park Service SPLASH from Azalea Drive, Chattahoochee River Park ( carrying over Morgan Falls Dam ) to Paces Mill. 13 mile paddle rather than the 6 mile SPLASH.

This would be independent of the NPS event.

Early in the planning, if there is interest, to meet at Chattahoochee River Park at 8:00 to drop boats and drive to Paces Mill to park cars. ( Don't forget the $3 parking fee. ) Returning to Chattahoochee River Park to launch as soon as possible.

Plan to bring your own snacks and refreshments.

We will need to provide our own shuttle vehicles. Contact me with availability to ensure this float will happen.

Thanks !

One more thing....Morgan Falls is 312.5 and Paces Mill is304.5...so really only about 8-8.5 miles I think. I led this for AAP on June 11 I think it was

See that Richard Grove has offered "Summer SPLASH - 9 Mile event," nine miles - Morgan Falls Dam to Paces Mill - without the portage. Won't hurt my feelings if you'd rather do that. Just keep us posted . . .

I am so sorry. I didn't realize this was starting at Azalea and portaging around. I do want to start at Morgan Falls below the dam and go to Paces Mill. I have a few friends that are planning to do the same.

No, anything that floats, most people will be in rec boats

Hi Peter. I too had the idea of extending this with a morning shuttle....but I was planning on getting off at Powers Island for about an hour to have lunch, get tee shirt, listen to music, etc. I actually tried to convince my friends from SOA to consider this as well and I guess we all forgot about it.

The parking problem is solved by doing what I do with classes. Long rope, tie the boats off to a tree. UP STREAM, far enough to be out of the way of the dock. We do this all summer long. The dock does get congested and it is too hard to pull boats out in the madness and re launch them.

If you want a SPLASH 't' you should register with NPS before they sell out and stop at the Morgan Falls entry as we float past to get on their launch list. ( Remember to check out at Powers Island so they don't send a search party. ) See their web site for details.

I have no idea what "splash" is but kayaking 13 miles on the Hooch in a stretch I've never paddled, count me in.
