Summer SPLASH - 9 Mile event

I have registered 20 participants for this event saving you a phone call.

This will be a 9 mile trip from Morgan Falls Dam to Paces Mill for those who want a longer than 6 mile trip or don't want to portage the dam, You will be registered with the CRNRA and get whatever identification at the put-in plus see many old friends.

The CRNRA sent me this when I registered: Following the float, there will be food, music, exhibitors, and more at Powers Island... but didn't say or know if the food / drink would be FREE so my recommendation is to bring a lunch, plenty to drink and some money for the just-in-case.

We'll leave Morgan Falls with the first group and paddle to Powers Island. I'll have a long rope to tie the boats together but you will need a short bow rope on your kayak. We'll eat lunch there and see what they have at Powers Island. When the group majority is ready we'll head for Paces Mill with maybe a Guts & Glory stop at Jump-Off rock.

Meet place: Morgan Falls Dam Park (at the river and just below the dam) at 7:30am to drop boats, then figure out a car shuttle for most of the vehicles. We'll be leaving at 7:45am so don't be late or we'll leave without you.

Hopefully it will be sunny. If that happens plan a day in full sun.

Spray shirts optional.

Eloquent indeed and I am glad to know you both should the need arise! Love, are you sure it was Freudian or a slip? Not to disparage but you are indeed a character and one of my favorites.

hahahaha I truly hate to confess, but I personally feel that the "slip" was an accurate perception.

Another great paddle. I am convinced that any paddle is 90% fellow paddlers, and 10% river. Great group of paddlers. I survived but did suffer a significant injury to my pride, ego, and heart from Linda and her razor sharp wit early this morning. It'll take me a few days to recover. :(

Thanks Margot! That's undoubtedly the nicest comment made to or about me today! And Steve, rest assured I adore you. Today and forever.

Tons of fun as always. Great paddling with old friends and new. Richard, thanks for organizing and shepherding. sorry, the batteries on the camera died at Sope Creek, and the backup set was dead too, so no pics past that. Probably a good thing for you guys or you'd have a hundred pictures to look through.

Should I wait about fixing my teeth until after jumping rock? Maybe I should just delay until after Columbus. Hell, with the paddling I've got planned, and knowing my limitations, I should just plan on being toothless.

What the heck? First the leg ... Now your tooth... A face guard is not enough...

Greetings fellow yakkers...I've registered for the CRNRA Summer Splash & will be there with 5 other yakkers. We're not doing the extra 3 miles to Paces Mill but wanted y'all to know that the last 3 Summer Splashes did offer BBQ for purchase and live music with a few earth-friendly tables/exhibits.
Very organized event sponsored by CRNRA---and it's FREE!
    See y'all there!

I'm new to this. Is there a drop off for the kayaks? Do we get a ride back? How does it work?
