Let's paddle Buford Dam to McGinnis Ferry, Section 5+ of The Hooch!

The plan is to meet up at 0900 hours just below below Buford Dam (http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/4475/#tab-map), drop all river gear plus guard at put-in, proceed to takeout with as many vehicles as possible, return to put-in with as few as possible, enjoy this approx. 8.5 mi mile run with at least one leisurely break on an island, and recover. With respect to flow/safety, the main wildcard is the release schedule (http://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/downstream-flow-rate-buford-dam.htm). We will check the schedule to ensure that we're not signing up for for HIGH water with bad timing. Please dress for the weather, and for the water as well in case you may go for a little January swim. Here is the link to this section of harnessed River: http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/4475/ / Expect class 1-II action, plus the ever popular 'rescue rock'...

Turned out to be a perfect day on the dam Hooch. 5 miles was just right, and we savored the beautiful weather! We first arrived at full dam release and as a wise man said, you'd have to be dam near suicidal to paddle that! After readying the boats, gear and making our shuttle the river was ideal for a casual stroll with a few interesting challenges along the way. Can't think of a better way to spend a Monday! Thanks Andy for your efforts!

Hey Andy, I want to join this event but I am curious what kind of attire you would recommend. I have neoprene waders, glacier gloves, nylon paddling jacket and a wetsuit upper. Just wondering if that would be enough. This would be my first time winter kayaking with my new boat.
    thanks.

Andy, does anyone mind if I brink my canoe and my 7 year old grandson? Family issues have put him with me for the weekend and probably for Monday too.
