Why did you decide to join this group?

You've got so many members that I hope some will be able to meetup during the week. I live in the mountains, close to the upper Chatt I can go alone anytime but prefer not to do that since I'm a beginner, but gutsy gal--will go on down the river laughing all the way...enjoy the class II water up here, beautiful river! I plan to paddle the lakes, learn to roll when the weather warms up, go down the river a LOT (I'll probably go every week as I live 3 miles from put-in at Sautee). Would look forward to coming down the mountain to Atlanta area or wherever. I'll be travelling to Tybee Island, GA next month! Anybody been and have suggestions on sites there?

What would you say your experience level is?(we like all levels, but it may help us target events)

Beginner in fall of 2011 while living in PA. Wanted to do more on the rivers up there but that season too cold. Finally moved back to GA in spring 2012 and spent several days doing different runs on Chattahoochee, tried to learn to fish from the kayak. Plan to do some of that on the lakes this summer (too aggravating to fish and paddle too, plus the river is not the place to learn to fish and paddle at the same time). If anyone likes fishing, I'd like to learn to do both together but maybe somewhere else besides the upper Hooch. Anyway, I am also a member of hiking club but end up doing most of my hiking solo too since I am usually working on Saturdays. Anyone able to go do things during the week is a plus for me! I'm adventurous, enjoy meeting new people, go new places, surrounded with nature. If there is anyone who just wants to socialize with a like minded outdoors woman but not kayaking, that's good too...walks, coffee...tell me where you've been!

What type of paddling do you typically do?(flatwater, whitewater, sea)

Upper Chattahoochee, the lake at Unicoi (outside Helen), enjoy moving water most unless fishing, want to expand on that exponentially. Will be solo sea kayaking at Tybee Island next month which will be a new experience. I'm in learning mode. If anyone has been there and has pointers, let me know.

How often do you typically paddle?(once a month, once a week, etc)

Have not been this year just because I need to buy a new kayak (or good used one...looking). The cold weather does not deter me. I will go every week if I have time. Feel free to contact me if you've got a free day during the week or on Sunday ( I usually cannot go on Saturday unfortunately!). I am open to going up to the lakes: Burton, Seed, Rabun, etc if someone wants to paddle around, maybe fish, it's nice with good places in Clarkesville to eat afterwards. I am looking for some new friends who want to come up to the mountains.

Would you participate in social events with this group, even if paddling wasn't involved?

Fairly new to paddling, have done some of the upper Hooch a few times, I live just a few miles from put-in at Sautee Creek. Fell in love with it the first time out! Need to buy a kayak soon, all suggestions appreciated.
