I am a lifelong canoeist, boater, fisherman and camper.
Although I once paddled substantial whitewater, I now prefer gentle, scenic rivers, placid lakes and the Okefenokee Swamp day use canoeing areas. I would like to do more tidewater canoeing.
Flatwater and rivers with moderate current and small rapids. I discovered that rowing my canoe is more efficient that paddling it solo while on flatwater. I sometimes "cheat" by using a small gasoline Evinrude outboard or electric trolling motor on my square back canoe for longer trips due to my reduced endurance that resulted from my heart trouble. However, I only use these motors when they do not offend my fellow travelers. I would like to paddle and row tidewater areas.
Now once or twice each month. Formerly every day year round.
Georgia Tech graduate in physics. Experience in aerospace engineering in Saint Louis and at NASA JSC in Houston, TX. Career ended by heart trouble in 2008. Lifelong love of canoeing and camping, but now at a leisurely pace. Will turn 60 this October.
