RE: [kayaking-177] Chattahoochee put-ins

Thank you so much, Glenn.  I hope to have the opportunity to kayak with you and your wife.  I prefer flat-water myself.  I have 2 kayaks, one for river flat-water/intercostal and then a rec that I’m willing to take over rocky rapids.

You're welcome to retrieve my Buford Dam to Paces Mill river matrix at http://www.slackcat.com/Chattahoochee-Matrix.pdf. Each entry in the body is the miles and the estimated time (using 3 mph upstream/2 mph downstream). To use it look for your put-in on the left-hand side and your takeout across the top.

I've never put-in nor taken-out at CREEC but it's on the CRNRA map so I included it in the matrix.

You can put in below Morgan Falls, It adds about a mile and a half.  Yes you can portage the dam if you put in at azalea, just stay river left and take out at the ramp, then walk down the hill.

Hey great info folks. If anyone could chime in with some info about lower metro hooch putins/pullouts, I'm looking for something below morgan falls, but longer than johnson ferry to paces mill.  Is there a put in at morgan falls? Can it be portaged if we start at azalea? Any place to park and pull out below paces mill?

Thanks in advance!
Chris

You can put in at Jones Bridge and add about 3 miles to your paddle.

North of Holcome is Medlock Bridge, I think that adds close to an hour but do not remember for sure.  If you go to the CRNRA website you can download a map of the entire park, with all of the putins marked as well as distances between them.  Just google CRNRA

Hope this helps.

I am looking for a put in just north of Holcomb Bridge Rd. to paddle down to the Azelea Drive take-out.  Can someone help me?  There is a put-in at Holcomb Bridge, but I am wanting a slightly longer paddle (maybe an hour).
