Re: [kayaking-177] Looking for suggestions

Putting in at 136 to 9 is a great trip.  Putting in at 53 is not easy and there is really no parking.

The 11 or so miles is mostly flat and enjoyable.

With the recent rains the river was running fast, Thus your 3 hour tour.

Renee,
Call The Outside World in Dawsonville.  They offer shuttle on the Etowah with advance notice.

Hi Matt,

My husband and I would like to know where you put in and if you shuttled your kayaks or found an outfitter to do it for you. I would like to do this trip tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks,

Renee

Again, thanks everyone for the great suggestions. My wife and I took our tandem kayak down the 9.5 miles of the Etowah through Dawson Forest. It was a quick 3 hour trip. I didn't realize how fast that water moves. No real rapids to worry about, just a good current. What an amazing beautiful day it was. I've always wanted to do that river and it did not disappoint me at all.  There were moments when the breeze would blow up river and we'd just be drifting downstream in absolute silence. It was meditative and peaceful. It's what we love about flat water kayaking.

Next time we'll definitely put in at 53 to add some distance to it.
