Dear AGDC Members,
This email is to regretfully announce that "Monthly Meetup: Color Workshop with Dewey Sadka," scheduled to occur tonight (Wednesday, October 13,[masked]:30 PM) has been cancelled. Please update your plans accordingly.
In spite of the fact that the group is growing and the reviews show we've been offering really great programs, event attendance at the regular events has been on a constant decline. With only 3 RSVPs for tonight, It is time to step back and regroup. Watch for another email soon with a more thought-out vision for that change in plan. In the meantime, please feel free to post your thoughts, ideas, suggestions about what would draw you to attend more often to the thread where this email posted to our Discussion Board.
I already know that I definitely need help promoting events better (maybe from one or more of the many internet marketers in the group). Email me by reply or through the "Contact Organizer" link with how you can help if you are interested in doing so.
I'm also looking for other members interested in producing events. If you have an idea for a program you'd like to produce, please email me an outline of the content and 3 dates you'd be available to serve as an event organizer producing that event. Send it by reply or through the "Contact Organizer" link on the Meetup. At this point, I will commit to producing one solid, well-publicized event per quarter and promoting all of the other related events happening around the city. Any additional months offer an opportunity for member-run events of any sort. I'll provide structure and support, but producing an event every month is proving to be beyond my capacity and things are about to get even busier.
Just over a week ago, AIGA Atlanta signed an agreement for me through my company, Creative Know-Who, to sponsor and administer the entry process for the 2011 SEED Awards. Contributing to the success of a show that highlights the best and brightest of design talent across the region is an incredible honor and opportunity. It is also going to be a huge time commitment and that new commitment requires adjustments in other areas. I also believe this group will be stronger in the long run if it doesn't solely depend on me for programming, so we need some other leaders to step up with reasonably concrete event ideas you'd like to produce.
I will continue to promote other events happening with AIGA, Freelance Forum, AWDG, etc. Based on the attendance at last week's Freelance Forum event, sharing reminders of those events seems to be a valuable part of this Meetup experience. I'll give additional thought as to how we leverage that even more for you and the group. Again, please share your thoughts if you have ideas in this area.
