Joomla and Microsoft SQL Sever

From: Steven J.

Has anyone installed Joomla on an apache server with MS SQL server as the database?

I am in the process working with a client who is attempting this.

The goal is to have
  • 1st server running Redhat / Apache and hosting Joomla files
  • 2nd server running MS SQL server 2008 hosting the database

Can Joomla can be set up to run this way?  (it is my understanding that it can)

I have not set joomla up this way before and I am not in front of any of the servers and walking there it guy through the process.

Since I can not see the servers directly, I wanted to make sure my understanding was correct.

I think they are missing the sqlsrv drivers in their php configuration

Any input on this is appreciated.

Thanks! -- Steven
