AtlantaPHP April 2012 Meeting

PRESENTATION: How Not To Get Hacked 101

Presentation by Shawn Stratton, Discovery Communications, Inc.

Measured against OWASP (https://www.owasp.org), Veracode, a security consultancy, recently found that only 16% of government web applications were secure, compared to 24% of finance industry applications and 28% of commercial applications. Scared yet? We’ll walk through some of the major security holes that developers usually write into their software and some practices to help fix them.

Eventually, we'll be listing slides on our blog site after our meetings, but here's the link to Shawn's slides - http://speakerdeck.com/u/mfacenet/p/security-101

Good meeting. I did get some good takeaways and things to think about (and implement) for developing a secure site.

Good coverage of coding secure applications, thanks Shawn. Logan's presentation was good even with the issues he had with the vendor's site. Thanks for bringing this product to our attention.

Good meeting, enjoyed the presentations. Wish the BugHerd presentation went better, because is sounds like an awesome idea that I'd like to pitch to the powers-that-be, but what can you do when the server maintenance schedule mucks you up?

Good topic, and good presentation. Just the right amount of "overview" vs. "details".
    Good venue.

If food will be sponsored at a meeting, it will always be clearly mentioned in the meeting description. Food is more of an exception rather than a rule, but if your company is interested in sponsoring food for a meeting, please get in touch with any of the group organizers. Thanks!
