PRESENTATION: Current Trends of the PHP and Open Source Job Market
NOTE - NEW LOCATION - Hypepotamus (see above)

Thompson Technologies
Presentation by Ari Waller, Vice President of Recruiting, Thompson Technologies (@ariwaller and @ThompsonTechIT)
The presentation will be an overview of the current employment market and outlook specifically for PHP developers (as well as other Open Source related Open Source trends), based on the current supply and demands in the market place, as well as career oriented topics via Q&A (Resumes, Interviews, and overall job hunting tips and strategies). Ari will cover a year by year comparison from his previous talk and discuss changes and new trends going into 2013. We will also discuss how to work with recruiters as effectively as possible (if at all), as well as questions you have always wanted to ask regarding the the inner workings of IT Staffing.
Note from Ari: I want to assure you this is not a IT Staffing Commercial. I am looking forward to sharing direct and useful data with an understanding that many of your members will never use a recruiter to find an opportunity. I am also hoping to answer any questions they have based on good and bad experiences they have had with recruiters if they would like.
Hi Guys - I am new to the group as of the January meetup, and I have suddenly and abruptly reached the end of my comfortzone in php and am in immediate need of help. Anyone available today? I have a website launching this week and we now need to do an OAuth authentication and several remote queries to a client site to look up submitted data. I have been provided some private php functions code but am stumped as to how to successfully implement this. drop me a line asap if you can help! - Thanks, Mike

This sounds like a great topic. Looking forward to hearing Ari's talk.
An interesting aspect to selecting a candidate to hire or company to work is the "fit" between the person and the company culture and the team makeup. Determining this is not usually about skills and experience, it is more about behavioral style and values.
Tonight's attendees, or any member of Atlanta PHP User Group, are invited to receive my startup's personality profiles for free. There are two, Social Style, which is behavioral style based model and Hidden Motivators, which a values based model.
The reports are very detailed and may help you choose the right organization to work for based on your style and values.
Note: The Abeo site is PHP/WordPress and I am looking for an equity partner.
Best,
~eric

Hi, would it be inappropriate to attend if I'm looking to potentially hire freelance/part-time PHP developers for my company?
