Hello Kurt,

I am a former recruiter who has moved into the sales side of the business working with managers finding positions, I have been following the e-mail chains recently on a number of the groups I am passively a member of. I join these groups to see what is going on and to try and stay current.

I have noticed a current trend in “spam” e-mails from recruiters which has led me to discussions with the recruiters I work with to ensure they are not the culprits. I know some groups have separate jobseekers lists, or e-mail lists like [address removed] (for example) where recruiters send positions and interested parties respond.

Is there a way you would prefer recruiters to reach out to you, or perhaps another forum you could point out? I am very keen for my recruiters to work closely with people like yourself to help you find exciting opportunities.

I would love some honest feedback and possible action steps…

Subject: Re: [ruby-83] One Permanent Ruby on Rails Opening in Nashville, TN

So I'm tired of recruiter emails in general, both on mailing lists and to me. Is there a database out there of known recruiter email addresses? It'd be awesome to build a gmail plugin that would stuff them all in a label automatically and allow us to hit the spam button when appropriate. If that's too much effort, it'd be nice to have a clear recruiter policy laid out for the mailing list so we can just block obnoxious ones. (I'd personally campaign for if the company is not named, it gets trashed)

Audrey,

This is borderline spammy. You could have easily summarized all of the positions you just sent in the last two emails in one email. Please consolidate these types of emails in the future so you're not bombarding people's inboxes. Thanks.
